Size Matters -- Or Does It?
Monday I sent off an email to Meltzer. Nicole and I both forgot to ask him how big the implants were that he put in. I also asked him a few other questions, mostly about the pains she's got. I finally got a reply today, and passed the answer on to Nicole. Turns out he used 400cc implants. That, he said, should make her a large B cup or a small C cup. Right now she's still saying they're too big, too high, too round, and fake looking. And they still hurt.
I'm not sure I knew what to expect before the BA operation; I've never gone through this with anyone before. I don't think Nicole really knew what to expect because she's never been through this either. Given that it's not something people really talk about if they have had it done, we went in on a bit of blind faith. We knew what we had been told and what we had read. The expectation that after surgery they would look real is just not realistic! Setting the proper expectation is the challenge. We're still figuring that one out, but we have a lot more information now (since the pre-op appointment) than we did before. All I can say is that the swelling is diminishing a little at a time. Nicole is still tired. The last two days she came home from work early. She's not home yet today, so I'm assuming she's in for the full day. This means she will be exhausted tonight.
Meltzer's email said: "They will look quite a bit different in a few months so tell her not to worry. They will definitely look smaller and less round over time. Most people will hurt on one side more than the other (your brain will only allow you to hurt on one side at time). Its normal and she will get better. Massage the implants in the pocket twice a day for the first month. After that once a day for the next six months should suffice. " Nicole says it hurts to do the massaging. I just ask her each day if she's done her exercises. The way I look at it, a little discomfort for a couple months is a small price to pay for achieving the desired results. I got that philosophy down with all the knee surgeries I've had! I learned the hard way that it's just easier and better if you will only follow the doctor's instructions.
One bump in the road is that I seem to have gotten the flu yesterday. I felt like crap in the afternoon. I tried to go to bed at 19:30, but there was just too much noise going on in the house with two TVs going full blast and loud talking and laughing. When I got up later to try to eat I only ended up throwing it all up later. I finally went to sleep at 05:30 this morning. Needless to say I feel like crap today, too. And to top it off I didn't get my flu shot last year. I want my mommy! ;-)
